The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to introduce its own T20 league starting in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations venturing into this format.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, has confirmed this decision to Cricbuzz. While the launch is confirmed, the association is still working on key details.
"We are yet to finalize a suitable window for the tournament," Patel stated. The number of participating teams and other specifics are also still under consideration.
The rise of domestic T20 leagues across India has created valuable scouting opportunities for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra have proven effective in showcasing local talent and providing a pathway to higher levels of competition. Many of these leagues are typically held in June and July, after the IPL season concludes in May.
