Hong Kong has named a 20-member squad for the Asia Cup 2025, set to begin on September 9 in the United Arab Emirates. This will be their fifth appearance in the tournament, having previously competed in 2004, 2008, 2018, and 2022. Led by captain Yasim Murtaza and vice-captain Babar Hayat, the team is aiming to make a strong impact.
The squad combines experience and youth, featuring notable players such as Anshuman Rath, Nizakat Khan, Babar Hayat, Aizaz Khan, Ehsan Khan, Kinchit Shah, Ayush Shukla, and Haroon Arshad. Babar Hayat stands out as one of only two batters to have scored hundreds in the Asia Cup T20, alongside Virat Kohli.
Head coach Kaushal Silva highlighted the competitive mindset expected from the team, saying, "Each player has to earn their spot. We are not here to participate; we are here to compete, win games, and enjoy the experience."
Ahead of the tournament, Hong Kong will hold a preparation camp in the UAE starting August 24. Under Silva’s guidance, the squad will take part in competitive matches and intensive training sessions, helping assess players and build team cohesion.
Placed in Group B, Hong Kong will face Afghanistan on September 9 and Bangladesh on September 11 in Abu Dhabi, before taking on Sri Lanka on September 15 in Dubai.
