He also lauded the Indian Armed Forces for their successful Operation Sindoor. After the seven-wicket win, Gambhir spoke to the broadcasters with visible pride. “Good win. There is still a lot of cricket left in this tournament. This match was important as we wanted to show solidarity with the victims and families and what they went through during that Pahalgam attack. This was the first India-Pakistan clash since the April terror attack and the launch of Operation Sindoor. The Indian team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, played under heavy scrutiny and pressure but held their nerve to dominate from the start. Pakistan, after choosing to bat, struggled at 6 for 2 before a small partnership between Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman steadied them. Kuldeep Yadav was the star with the ball, taking three wickets for just 18 runs, while Shaheen Shah Afridi’s late hitting pushed Pakistan to 127 for 9.
India’s chase was steady despite early wickets. Abhishek Sharma’s explosive cameo of 31 off 13 balls set the tone before Suryakumar Yadav anchored the innings with an unbeaten 47. He found support from Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube as India wrapped up the match with 25 balls to spare. Kuldeep’s brilliant spell earned him the Player of the Match award as India secured their second consecutive win to top Group A.
