Rohan Bopanna’s US Open campaign ended in disappointment as he and Monaco’s Romain Ameodo bowed out of the men’s doubles on Saturday, August 30. The pair lost in straight sets to Americans Robert Cash and James Tracy on Court 12.
The match lasted an hour and five minutes, with Cash and Tracy sealing a 6-4, 6-3 win. The American duo will next face Italy’s Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori, who defeated Spain’s Jaume Munar and Pedro Martinez 7-6, 4-6, 6-2.
US Open 2025 Day 7 Updates
In the opening set, Cash and Tracy converted one of their three break-point opportunities while denying Bopanna and Ameodo a single look at their serve. The trend continued in the second set, where the Americans capitalized on two of seven break points. Once again, Bopanna and Ameodo failed to earn a break chance, underlining the dominance of the home pair.
Indian representation in men’s doubles at the 2025 US Open has produced mixed results, with one pair doing well while others bowed out early.
The standout performance came from Anirudh Chandrasekar and Vijay Sundar Prashanth, who stunned the eighth-seeded American duo of Christian Harrison and Evan King in the opening round.
After dropping the first set, the Indian pair showed grit and composure to fight back for a 3–6, 6–3, 6–4 win in one hour and 42 minutes. This was not only their first victory at Flushing Meadows but also their maiden triumph at a Grand Slam, achieved in just their third major appearance.
Chandrasekar and Prashanth will now face Brazil’s Fernando Romboli and Australia’s John-Patrick Smith in the second round.
Elsewhere, the challenge of Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli and N. Sriram Balaji ended in the first round. Despite pushing their opponents hard, they went down 6–3, 6–7(10), 4–6 to Bart Stevens and Vasil Kirkov.
