Pogba Lands in Monaco After Doping Suspension
Paul Pogba has officially signed with AS Monaco on a free transfer, the Ligue 1 team announced Saturday. The 32-year-old French midfielder aims to reignite his career after serving a doping ban.
Sources confirmed to ESPN that Pogba, who inked a two-year contract with Monaco, declined a substantial offer from a Saudi Pro League club.
The World Cup-winning midfielder last played competitively in September 2023 for Juventus.
Pogba received a four-year doping ban in February 2024 after testing positive for DHEA, a substance that elevates testosterone levels. Following an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the suspension was reduced to 18 months. Paul Pogba during a match prior to his suspension.
Juventus, the Italian club, revealed in November that they had mutually agreed to terminate his contract, initially set to end in June 2026.
Previously linked with potential moves to MLS and the Saudi Pro League, Pogba will now make his comeback in his native France.
Although Pogba developed through Le Havre's academy, he has yet to play professionally in France, having spent his club career between Manchester United and Juventus.
