NEW DELHI: The upcoming Asia Cup 2025 clash between India and Pakistan, scheduled for Sunday in Dubai, has triggered outrage among Indian fans, who are urging the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to withdraw from the tournament following the Pahalgam terror attack in April that claimed 26 civilian lives.
The The Resistance Front, initially linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and based in Pakistan, first claimed responsibility for the attack but later denied involvement.

In response to the attack, India launched Operation Sindoor, carrying out missile strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Pakistan retaliated with cross-border shelling and drone attacks before both nations reached a ceasefire on May 10.

“When we got to know the India vs Pakistan match is being organised, we were very disturbed. No sort of connection should remain with Pakistan... If you want to play the match, bring me back my 16-year-old brother who was shot with so many bullets... Operation Sindoor seems to be a waste now,” he told ANI.
His mother, Kiran Yatish Parmar, questioned Narendra Modi’s stance, saying, “This match should not happen. I want to ask Prime Minister Modi, Operation Sindoor has not concluded so why is this India vs Pakistan match happening?... I want to tell everyone in the country to go and visit those families who have lost their loved ones in the Pahalgam terror attack and see how sad they are. Our wounds have not healed.”
Despite a widespread boycott campaign across India opposing the match, the BCCI has not withdrawn from the fixture.
